Proton MPV : beta final







As the Malaysian Automotive manufacturer, Proton, tend to participate in the MPV local competition, The just announce to produce the new Proton MPV ( name yet to publish).

How its look? well, based on the final beta received from the local source, it is look quiet competitive design. Yet we still need to look into its cumulative performance on the road and the quality as well on whether or not it will fit the price.

MyBroadband 2008 Conference : launching day

The MyBroadband 2008 Exhibition and Conference has been launched today by Minister of Energy, Water and Communication, Dato` Shaziman Abu Mansor ( Suppose the Malaysian Prime Minister launch the session, but he didn`t turn up). The event theme for this year is " Converging Broadband : Going for Growth (G4G)", the conference provide a landscape toward convergence - today and tomorrow - as they said...

Day one began with a quite late ceremony and not many people attend for the lauching some more..Bla bla bla...and after official launching the conference has been divided into three tracks sections (parallel conference session). So, we have to choose the most best tracks for us..Huh really disappointed.

Another frustrating event is that no wireless provided even though in the brochure they ask participants to carry notebooks for the free Wifi. What a crap.. And another stupid evidence, they are organizing a Ultra-Broadband forum ( > 10 Mbps), but the internet service (wired and with laptops provided by organizer ; 5 pcs) for participant was less that 512 Kbps...huh Don`t know whats the mistake....

Nokia E90 : happy and frustration from its owner


After almost four months I have my Nokia E90 in my hand, a lot of happiness and also frustrations I have shared with my new best friend, Mr. E90. As I already commented on its basic functionality at my other blog, league of shadow, in the session I just wanna share my feeling getting along with this device with me.

First of all, this is actually the first time I am carrying a bulky block mobile which is really obvious no matter which side on your body you try to place it. Aha...but one thing, it also bring a positive attraction towards your lifestyle appearance in front of other people ( show off). Even though I try to hide it at my new pouch (since the free pouch is really lousy in fact) it is still really "over expose" my appearance. The camera function is still the hottest issue for this very expensive bulky block phone. I have 3 times experience that the camera button " jump out" when I was trying to take picture, and it is really hard to put it back.



I got a great experience when I am browsing internet through its Nokia web browser. Even though I cannot apply the stupid Mobile Opera on it ( arrgh.... stupid opera developer is sleeping ), but I still get a great result with its original browser. I can say it can compete the iphone safari mobile browser, with just a second different, because of cache storage issue ( read more this on league of shadow). Just one thing I got really fed up with this mobile, its 3G setting. I not sure what is happening, I have subscribe the 3G with the local service , stupid Maxis. Unfortuantely, up-to-date, my 3G still cannot work. I have installed the 3G configuration for hundreds of time but it still remain death. Until the last reason given to me, the service provider said, since the mobile is dual mode, so the service has been interupted with the wifi AP ( what a stupid reason), and this nokia E90 does not allow two or three different 3G configurations. What the stupid....

To make it simple, It is really my mobile mini-netbook and good organizer for me. and I am happy with its performance. But there are still a lot of improvement have to be done to the next generation Nokia Mobile Communicator

Mobiado 105 EM and 105 EM CLB specification Review


Canadian Mobile manufacturer, Mobiado, has annouced their latest model; Professional 105 EM White, Professional 105 EM , Professional 105 EM CLB and Professional 105 EM CLB .

Mobiado, who specialise in luxury phones, naturally, with a high price tag, and looks to match, have added three new handsets to its portfolio of handsets - the 105EM, which comes in a colour choice of red, or white, and the 105CLB. The 105EM (both the silver and white version) is constructed of burl wood, with a nickel-plated brass frame. The screws that keep the 105EM together are comprised of titanium, and the handset’s buttons of sapphire crystal, decked out in silver paint.

The first two phones are part of the Professional 105 EM Special Edition series and are built from exquisite materials like maple burl wood, titanium, sapphire crystal and 24K gold.

The specs of Professional 105 EM White and Professional 105 EM Red (pictured above) are:

HTC Touch HD : specification review




Looking at the latest model of HTC, we would know that HTC now are looking into away to compete Iphone 3G collonialism; by creating its duplicate, HTC Touch HD.

By using Windows Mobile Platform, it seems that HTC wanna follow Blackberry step creating a similar concept mobile phone in order to compete Iphone. Besides, with the 5 Megapixel Camera, for sure it will give a great shot and great quality photo. Additional equipped with super mobile fast processor (not yet dual core) , 528 MHz CPU, help this mobile to boost it performance. But talking about windows mobile, I am still fed up with it. With Windows Mobile 6.1, Instead of running faster, their devices are even slower and suddenly freeze for about 20 seconds. Furthermore, some applications do not work any longer, there is few internal memory and even some microSD cards stop working correctly. Even some times, it have problem with Wireless LAN. Luckily it is preinstalled with Opera Mobile 9.5 browser, then you can talk to safari about web browsing.

LTE & WiMax : Will the 3G just easily let them pass through?


As people now start talking about new advance technology, WiMax and LTE, The existing 1st batch predator, 3G, is just find out its maturity in the wireless mobile in the market. After a quite long run debut about its performance, connectivity issue, bandwidth, and all other issues, finally it has into a stage of almost fully matured.

Yet, the issue of WiMax and LTE still have pages to go and we need to wait up to 8-10 years for them to get matured. Further more, monetization of wireless services in general has become a thornier problem. If it isn't solved, the impetus to spend billions of dollars to upgrade networks to 4G might not materialize. Just think a little bit, if most of the customers are happy with the existing 3G service with only let say USD 30 per month, could they easily change to a new adopted 4G or wimax for higher fee. Or will the mobile voice service providers remain or reduce the fee with their burst cost of upgrading to new technology? Will they able to wait a very long term profit for this project?

Besides, new generation of more sophisticated devices, like the Apple iPhone, is contributing to this problem. Just as wire line voice revenues were increasingly commoditized and then decimated by VoIP, many wireless services once solely the domain of service providers can now be sold directly to consumers by third parties, leaving the telecoms with only the basic Internet access revenues. For example, while carriers used to get a significant cut of downloadable games, users can now buy them directly from the iTunes store or download them from websites on a BlackBerry.

Not only that, even the mobile voice providers are also highly endangered with the existing of VoWifi. With the full deployment of these technology and deployment of thousands of SIP server, and the mass production of dual mode wifi enable mobile phone, since all the customers are able to call others for free or for the lower fee charge from the third party company. At the end, who will use the native voice service?

In term of Security, the new implementation of WiMax will increase up to 100% of possibility your computer will be hacked. Even easier to war-driving by using small personal mobile equipped with enhanced low cost external antenna. Try Linux OS mobile, and its works..... As people get exposed with new Network connectivity, they are still not up-to-date with the network security and it will endanger the users.

While service providers sort out just exactly how they will make money in the future, they continue to upgrade from 2G to 3G technologies, giving themselves breathing room before the major infrastructure investments need to be made. In fact, Many large GSM carriers that have already rolled out WCDMA/HSDPA networks are expected to adopt HSPA Evolution prior to adopting LTE

For us, as a normal user, just look and see, whether this new technology will drive to a better human civilization or it will just become one of the tools for some of the irresponsible group to widen their profit.








LTE and WiMax Implementation towards future Communication system


After a long debut about the next-generation cellular and WiMax deployment in the near future for the new communication module, seems they will show something to us, LTE and WiMax for future communication module. Both are still struggling to prove their capability, performance reliability and signal efficiency towards higher bandwidth requirement from community. Whihc one will win the segment? However, before we further jump into conclusion, some clarification need to be mentioned here. There are still some people really confused about those two; what are they? what they do? how great performance they can produce? how reliable they are?..Well, if we put these two together, they are almost the same. First, both are 4G technologies designed to move data rather than voice. Both are IP networks based on OFDM technology for fixed (802.16) and OFDMA (802.16m & LTE) for mobile — so rather than rivals such as GSM and CDMA, they’re more like siblings. But does the siblings all the same. no right? So, there a plenty of difference among them.

Intel push to come out with Atom quad core


Continuing its drive to bring processors and technologies to market that allow a full mobile device Internet experience, chip giant Intel Corp today announced availability of new versions of its netbook-focused Atom processors (formerly codenamed Diamondville) along with its 4 Series chipsets for mainstream desktop PCs – all as part of its presence at the Computex trade show in Taipei, Taiwan this week.

Sean Maloney, Intel executive VP and general manager of the sales and marketing group, said during the opening keynote at Computex that more powerful microprocessors and high-speed WiMax networks will usher in a new era of the full Internet on mobile devices. “The convergence of mobile computers, WiMax wireless broadband, and powerful, HD-rich computer technologies point to a tremendous growth opportunity. Individuals – not households – will drive the next era of growth with people each owning one or more computing devices. People have an innate desire to be 'connected' all the time and see personalized, mobile technology as the way to meet that need.”

This move is key as the computer industry strives to address the rising trend of creating, storing, and sharing high-definition videos on PCs, as well as double-digit growth in the mobile computing segment, Intel noted. With the emergence of the netbook category in 2008, the company believes this will be the first year that more mobile computing devices will be sold than desktop computers.

Intel reminded that its Atom processor is just one of a variety of high-performance, low-power processors and other advanced computer technologies meant to help the industry address this mobile opportunity with devices at all price points.

For netbooks and nettops, the Atom line (processors pictured left) was designed for low power in small form factors, and is manufactured with Intel’s 45-nm High-k metal gate process that allows smaller chips at a lower cost.

Intel noted that there is already interest from system vendors for these devices including Acer, Asus, ECS, Gigabyte, Malata, Medion, MSI, Quanta, Shuttle, and others.

In addition, Intel is introducing the Z-P230 PATA solid-state drive for value mobile and desktop systems, meant to replace traditional hard disk drives in netbook and nettop systems. The drive is four times smaller and lighter than a standard 1.8-inch hard disk drive, Intel said, noting that the solid-state design eliminates all moving parts, making it more rugged and reliable for mobile designs.

Mainstream computing gets boost

Among its announcements, Intel detailed its 4 Series chipsets that will be used in mainstream desktop PCs run by Intel’s 45-nm Core2 Duo and Core2 Quad processors, aimed at satisfying user demands for storing HD videos, photos, games, and music in one central library with the ability to access it from portable Internet-connected devices while on the go.

“The Internet is going 'high-def.' Desktop PCs with these new chipsets let you enjoy, share and protect your digital life. They have the processing power and graphics to deliver stutter-free HD video playback, improved 3-D performance, and leading storage capabilities,” Maloney said.

The 4 Series chipset includes the G45 Express chipset, which contains an updated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X4500HD, for what the company said are new levels of visual performance and quality, including several “firsts” for Intel platforms such as integrated complete hardware high definition (HD) pipelines for Blu-ray and other HD content playback; the ability to post-process HD content for improved visual quality; and integrated DisplayPort and HDMI with HDCP (High-Bandwidth Digital Content Protection) keys for digital content link protection.

The 4 Series also contains the P45 Express chipset, which is a follow up to the P35 Express chipset, designed for performance in mainstream platforms and adds support for PCI Express 2.0 with dual graphics configurations and the ability to tune performance beyond its baseline specification.

Holographic television to become reality


you’re sat down for the Football World Cup final, or a long-awaited sequel to the “Die Hard 4.0″ movie and you’re watching all the action unfold in 3-D on your coffee table.

It sounds a lot like a wacky dream, but don’t be surprised if within our lifetime you find yourself discarding your plasma and LCD sets in exchange for a holographic 3-D television that can put stupid Cristiano Ronaldo in your living room or bring you face-to-face with life-sized versions of your gaming heroes.

The reason for renewed optimism in three-dimensional technology is a breakthrough in rewritable and erasable holographic systems made earlier this year by researchers at the University of Arizona.

The researchers produced displays that can be erased and rewritten in a matter of minutes. The breakthrough has made some long-time researchers of the technology believe that it could now come to fruition.


The Japanese Government is pushing huge financial and technical weight into the development of three-dimensional, virtual-reality television, and the country’s Communications Ministry is aiming at having such technology available by 2020So

So, if this project is realized, you really could have a football match on your coffee table, or horror-movie villains jumping out of your wall.

Mobile Communication and The Society


Wireless networks are the fastest growing communications technology in history. Are mobile phones expressions of identity, fashionable gadgets, tools for life—or all of the above? Mobile Communication and Society looks at how the possibility of multimodal communication from anywhere to anywhere at any time affects everyday life at home, at work, and at school, and raises broader concerns about politics and culture both global and local.
